Xanthones are a photochemical (found in plants) family of antioxidants.
There are over 200 known Xanthones in nature, but most of these are found in small microscopic organisms and various forms of wood. None of these would be very enjoyable to consume. The Mangosteen fruit has over 40 known Xanthones and more being discovered monthly.
This makes Mangosteen the highest concentration of Xanthones in nature!
